Hello, I’m Glory Ann!
I’m a nursing professional with over 18 years experience in the health sector and I’m grateful to work in the industry I love. Throughout my life I’ve always felt passionate about health service delivery, particularly my experiences in overcoming unique problems in challenging settings.
I grew up in a small village in the Philippines, where my mother is the local midwife. Throughout my childhood and adolescence I watched my mother as she worked tirelessly to ensure everyone in our community, particularly our indigenous people, had access to basic healthcare.
As I grew I began to take on responsibilities, working side-by-side my mother, until I was old enough to go to college and complete a degree in nursing. I’ve since gone on to work in a number of different capacities, including registered nurse (hospital), occupational health nurse (mining), community health officer—where I managed and coordinated health programs in remote areas—and team leader in disability care, responsible for supporting clients with complex needs (brain & spinal injury). Everything I’ve done has been grounded in the early experiences I had with my mother and the value for human dignity and community service that she passed on to me.
After a decade of supporting older people and people with disabilities, this work has become part of who I am. I’m able to see the difference that proper care makes to a persons health and quality of life, and this is what’s driven me to co-found Silver Lining. Caring for people must be a personal experience and I want to be sure that the people I’m responsible for always get the care they deserve.
